Booking requirements for all members
At GigSalad, we work hard to create a trusted marketplace where event planners and service providers can connect safely, confidently, and easily. To maintain that trust, all bookings must be processed through the platform.
👉 Important: Booking offsite or failing to mark leads as booked is a violation of our User Terms of Service and can result in account removal without refund.
What counts as a violation?
The following actions will count as violations of our booking requirements:
- Accepting payment outside of GigSalad without marking the lead as booked
- Steering clients away from the platform to avoid booking fees
- Sending quotes to only cover a portion of the booking
- Marking gigs as booked for a lesser or incorrect amount than you charged the client

Why booking on-site is best for everyone
Here’s why keeping your bookings on GigSalad isn’t just a rule—it’s smart business:
- Your clients are protected. Bookings made through GigSalad are covered by our Worry-Free Guarantee, which gives your clients peace of mind and protects your reputation.
- Your money is safe. Payments are processed reliably and quickly, with support from our team if any issues arise.
- Verified credibility. Only gigs marked as booked are eligible for verified reviews, and having more reviews increases the likelihood of bookings.
- Increased visibility. Booking on-site is a primary factor that contributes to earning Top Performer status. Top Performers will see several benefits, including an increase in leads and higher search result placement.
What happens if I book off-site?
We value every vendor in our community, but repeated off-site booking behavior puts the entire marketplace at risk. We’re serious about upholding this standard and have implemented a three-strike policy:
- First violation: Friendly reminder and education on booking policies.
- Second violation: Formal warning and internal flag.
- Third violation: Final warning with clear notice of possible removal.
- Further violations: Permanent account removal without refund.
Frequently Asked Questions
I thought paid members could book offsite—what’s the deal?
We understand the confusion, and this is a common misconception. Paid members receive more visibility, lower booking fees, and access to additional categories. However, all bookings, regardless of membership level, must be processed through GigSalad. Remember, you can always mark them as booked instead if you prefer to accept payment directly.
Why do I have to pay a booking fee when I already pay for a membership?
Your membership fee unlocks additional features, including more categories, higher placement in search results, and access to client phone numbers. The booking fee is separate and only applies when a gig is officially booked. It helps support the platform, customer support, and payment processing. If you're a paid member, your booking fee is only 2.5%! Free members are charged 5%.
What if my client cannot process payment through GigSalad?
We understand that there are times when clients may not be able to use credit cards or PayPal to book with you. This typically applies to nonprofits, government entities, schools, and healthcare institutions, such as hospitals. In these cases, you can mark the lead as booked and pay the service fee after you've collected the payment.
Can I talk to the client before booking?
Absolutely! You’re encouraged to message freely and ask questions before confirming a booking. However, once you agree to a gig, it must be finalized and recorded on GigSalad.
