Setting up Venmo for gig payouts

GigSalad now supports Venmo as a payout option for U.S. members. Because Venmo payments are tied to a specific handle, we take an extra step during setup to make sure everything is accurate before any payouts are sent.

Instead of typing in your Venmo handle, you’ll upload a photo of your Venmo QR code. Our system reads the code, detects the handle, and shows it back to you so you can confirm it’s correct before saving. This helps prevent typos and payout issues later on.

Important! You must complete Venmo's identity verification in order to accept payments for goods and services through the app.

Why we use a QR code

Venmo handles need to be exact. Even a small typo can cause delays or send funds to the wrong account. By scanning your QR code, we’re able to:

  • Detect your Venmo handle accurately
  • Show you exactly which handle will be used for payouts
  • Reduce errors and payout delays

How to find your Venmo QR code

You’ll need the Venmo mobile app to access your QR code.

1. Open the Venmo app

Make sure you’re logged in to the correct account.

2. Go to your profile

Tap your profile picture, usually in the bottom right.

3. Access your QR code

Near the top of your profile screen, tap the QR code icon (it looks like a small square scanner).

How to capture your QR code

Once your QR code is on screen, take a screenshot of it.

  • iPhone: Press the Side button + Volume Up at the same time
  • Android: Press the Power button + Volume Down simultaneously

The screenshot will be saved to your phone’s Photos or Gallery. Make sure the QR code is clear and fully visible in the image.

Upload your Venmo QR code

Once you have a clear QR code image saved, it’s time to upload it to your GigSalad account.

  1. Go to Account > Payout Info in your GigSalad control panel.
  2. Select Venmo as your payout method.
  3. Click Upload QR code and choose the screenshot you just took.
  4. Review the detected Venmo handle.
  5. If everything looks right, click Update payout info to save and finalize your Venmo setup.

If the handle doesn’t match what you expect, you can upload a new image before saving.

Once confirmed, all future gig payouts will be sent to your Venmo account. If you ever need to change your Venmo account, you’ll follow the same procedure outlined above.

Frequently asked questions:

  • Where is my payout?

If you have not completed Venmo's identity verification, you will not be able to receive payments for goods and services, whether you have a personal or business profile. This is the most common reason for held payouts.

There may be additional regulations on Venmo's side that could delay payouts. These are beyond our control, and we cannot assist with those issues. However, we can provide you with a transaction number if needed to contact Venmo's customer support.

  • Why am I being charged a fee on Venmo?

GigSalad covers the transaction fee associated with sending you payments. However, you may have additional Venmo fees if you choose the instant payout option.
