How to write a review for someone you hired

Reviews are a very important tool for the vendors on GigSalad, and even more important for future event planners who might consider hiring them for their events. When you book someone on GigSalad, we encourage you to leave an honest and helpful review on their profile.

When you book through GigSalad, we'll send you emails in the days following the event with a direct link to review the person you hired. Or, you can go directly to their profile, scroll down to the review section, and click Write a Review.

(Tip: You can easily access their profile by logging into your account, going to your booking thread, and clicking on View Profile below their profile photo.)

When you submit a review, you'll be asked to provide the following:

1

Star rating

Choose 1 - 5 stars for your overall rating. Consider the entire experience from the communication before booking all the way through to their performance at your event.

2

Headline

Your review headline should be just a few words or a short sentence that sums up your more detailed review.

3

Written review

This is your chance to summarize the service that was provided, how you felt about it, and how your guests responded. Include the things that stood out most that would be helpful to other planners viewing the provider's profile.

Did they show up on time and prepared? Were they easy to work with throughout the process? Would you hire them again or recommend them to others? These are the kinds of questions you should ask yourself as you write your review.

Note: We do not allow slanderous or abusive reviews. This is not a place to air your personal grievances or attack a competitor. You may not use disparaging, hateful, or obscene language in your feedback. Also, please don't type in all caps.

Event info

If the event was booked through GigSalad and you are logged into your account, you'll only need to specify the service(s) you are reviewing. If you are not logged in or didn't book the person through GigSalad, you'll need to provide the event city and date so we can display these details along with your review.

Contact info

If you're logged into your event planner account, we'll already have the necessary info to confirm your review and attach it to your account. If you are not logged in, you'll be asked to provide your name, email address, and password for your account. We collect this for confirmation purposes only. Only your first name and last initial will be displayed with your review, and no other contact information will be shared.

If you don't have an account, you'll be asked to provide a password in order to create one. This is so you can access your review if you ever need to make any changes. You'll also be sent an email that will contain a link to confirm your review. Your review will not appear on GigSalad until you've clicked the link in the confirmation email.

Once you've completed all the required information, click the Submit Review button and wait for the success message to appear before leaving the page. If there are any errors, they will appear at the top of the page after the site attempts to process the submission. If this happens, go through and correct the stated errors and hit submit again.

Frequently asked questions:

Can I leave a review for someone even if I did not book them through GigSalad?

We welcome all honest reviews. We only ask that you be the actual client who hired them and not just a guest at an event where they performed.

Why isn't my review showing up?

There are a few things that could have happened.

Most likely:

You left the review without using an existing event planner account and have not yet clicked the confirmation link that was emailed to you. We require that all reviews be confirmed by email before they are posted. If you did not receive the email or deleted it, contact us and provide the email address that was used to submit the review.

Not as likely:

There may have been an error that was missed, preventing the review from being completed successfully. If you never received a confirmation email, it's likely the review never went through, and you should try again.

Least likely:

Your review was posted, but the vendor disputed it and the dispute was accepted. If you did not book the provider through our booking platform, there's little we can do to confirm or deny each party's claim for what happened at the event. In this case, we often side with our members. This is another reason we encourage our event planners to always complete bookings through GigSalad. We likely would not remove your review if you booked through GigSalad without first contacting you to discuss your claims. (Note: We will remove any review containing offensive or abusive language, regardless of whether the event was booked through GigSalad or not.)
